More than 4,000 runners took part in Changsha county's second half marathon around Songya lake on April 29.

With a prize pool of 100,000 yuan ($14,757) up for grabs, the race attracted more international runners than ever before.

A runner named Timothy from Kenya took home first prize in the men's race with a record of 54 minutes and 10 seconds, with another Kenyan runner, Nancy, finishing first in the women's in one hour two minutes and 24 seconds.

Runners of all abilities took part in this year's 17.4-kilometer event, with many celebrating the occasion by getting dressed up and running for charity.

"We don't care about the result," said one runner. "We just enjoy running together as one big family."
