A wholesale seafood market opened on Changsha county's Wanjiali Road, becoming the biggest market of its kind in Hunan province, reported Xingsha Times on Jan 12.

The market is spread across a 16,000-square-meter area and will offer fresh seafood to locals at affordable prices. It is divided into different sections selling a wide variety of seafood goods including shellfish, shrimps and crabs.

There are more than 300 different stalls that provide high-quality seafood both locally sourced and shipped in from other areas. The market aims to cooperate with some foreign import companies in the future.

The retailers are able to offer lower prices than many supermarkets (sometimes up to 30 percent cheaper) on account of a wholesale business model. Locals are certainly excited about the opportunity to buy high-quality seafood at reasonable prices.

The market is fitted with a food testing center to ensure quality and will also build a dining area in the second half of 2018 allowing people to cook their own food immediately after purchase.

The seafood wholesale market is a part of Shuiduhe Agricultural Products Market, a company that sells a variety of agricultural products.
