International logistics platform to be built in Changsha county
Updated: 2016-09-01
Huanghua Comprehensive Bonded Zone has struck a deal with the Hunan branch of China Postal Express and Logistics, a leading Chinese logistics enterprise, to develop an international logistics platform for handling import and export mail.
Following a productive meeting in Shenzhen, the two companies signed an agreement on Aug 26. The project has received a 420 million yuan ($62.8 million) investment and will boost the workings of Hunan special customs by improving the efficiency of the customs processes, postal services, and the rapidly growing cross-border ecommerce sector.
The site covers 100 mu (6.67 hectares) and will include postal sorting facilities, warehouses, parking lots, and offices. A further area spread across 16,000-18,000 square meters will be built to house administrative offices, public service desks, and an industrial park specifically for the purposes of cross-border e-commerce.
Following its completion, the complex is expected to handle a daily volume in excess of 100,000 mail items and achieve an annual volume of $3 billion.
The Huanghua Comprehensive Bonded Zone was approved by the State Council in May. It aims to further boost an already thriving economy by turning the 1.99 square-kilometer area into a nexus of storage, logistics processing and trade.
