Changsha charity to give out $6.71m in 2015

Changsha Charity Association plans to give out charity funds worth 41.98 million yuan ($ 6.71 million) for the needy in 2015, according to a council meeting of the Association in Hunan provincial capital on March 13.

This year, the association will carry out 23 charity projects, including old and newly established ones, which are expected to benefit 50,000 people in dire circumstances.

In 2014, Changsha Charity Association received donations worth 49.91 million yuan in total. It completed 24 charitable projects and gave out charity money of 39.88 million yuan, helping out 48,000 people.

Changsha was once again listed among the most charitable Chinese cities in China City Philanthropy Index ranking in August 2014, becoming the only provincial capital in central and western China that was awarded the honor for two sessions in a row.

Changsha seeks to revive porcelain production

In recent years, the local government has sought to revive the region's long tradition in porcelain making and boost local industry with the cultural influence of ancient Tongguan kilns, which have a history of 1,200 years.
