Hubei signed friendship province agreement with Rio Grande do Sul of Brazil on December 6, 2001.

Rio Grande do Sul is the southernmost State of Brazil. In the largest and most populous region of the state is the most southern city of the country.

Rio Grande do Sul is bordered to the north by the Brazilian State of Santa Catarina, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, on the south by Uruguay, and to the west by Argentina.

As one of the most prosperous Brazilian states, Rio Grande do Sul is known especially for grain production, viticulture, ranching, and for its considerable industrial output.
