HDR is an abundant source of geothermal energy contained in the hot and dry crystalline basement rocks deep beneath the earth's surface. Clean and efficient, it can be used to generate heat and electricity.

Henan Yuanfang Hot Dry Rock Exploration and Development, which engages in HDR exploration, development, research and promotion, has a firm grasp on the core technology of enhanced geothermal systems (EGS). It will offer technical support to the center, with capital provided by Henan Xinxing Energy Development.

Zheng Maojie, deputy mayor of Nanyang, hoped that the three parties can speed up the research and development (R&D) of hot dry rock, and spur the green development in the city .
