Nanyang's agricultural export value increased by a whopping 82.9 percent year-on-year to reach 1.93 billion yuan ($304 million) in the first quarter of 2018. This accounts for 51.2 percent of Henan province's total, according to the Nanyang Commerce Bureau.

Exports to Asia, Europe, and Latin America maintained strong momentum, with growth rates of 95.86, 24.66 and 564.39 percent, respectively. In a major breakthrough, Nanyang produce also entered the Belarussian, French, Polish, Brazilian and Chilean markets during this period.

Furthermore, exports shifted from the shiitake mushroom alone to a diversified portfolio of kiwi, tea and garlic. More and more Nanyang agricultural enterprises are able to export deep-processing products rather than just low-margin raw materials and self-finished products.

There are currently 91 agricultural export enterprises in the city, 29 more than last year. Also, Xixia county's edible mushroom industry was designated as a national foreign trade transformation & upgrading base in March.
