Hebei plans to invest 40 billion yuan ($6.3 billion) in 100 projects this year to boost local tourism, according to an official of the provincial tourism bureau.

Zhang Tianping, deputy chief of the administration, said priority will be given to 12 key projects including the Zhengding Ancient City and the Greater Xibaipo Program.

The Chengde-Qinhuangdao-Tangshan travel route is also expected to kick off this year.

Hebei ranks 12th nationwide in its tourism attractiveness in the Blue Book of China’s Tourism Economy recently published by the China Tourism Academy.
