Southwest China's Guizhou province was recently selected as one of the 13 national transportation construction pilot areas by the Ministry of Transport.

Guizhou will strive to achieve the phased results of the pilot tasks in one or two years, and achieve strong overall systematic results in three to five years while becoming a replicable model for enhancing China's strength in transportation.

Guizhou has consistently placed transportation infrastructure construction as one of its priorities in terms of economic and social development. By 2018, Guizhou's total length of roads reached 196,900 kilometers, including 6,453 km in expressways, 26,300 km in national and provincial roads, as well as 164,100 km in rural roads.

According to the transportation construction outline, China aims to enhance its transportation strength by expanding rail and road networks. By 2035, China will strive to add to its transportation strengths by forming high-speed, trunk line, and basic transportation networks.

China will also strive to build two traffic networks that both allow people to travel inside a city in one hour, to neighboring cities in two hours, and to other major cities in three hours, as well as realize logistics transportation in the country in one day, to neighboring countries in two days, and to major cities in the world in three days.

By the middle of this century, China aims to become a country with the strongest transportation network in the world.
