Smart trash-recycling collection points in Bijiang district, Tongren, Southwest Guizhou province have caught the eyes of visitors that are impressed by their innovations.
Each collection point is equipped with a sensor to monitor the temperature, weight, and volume of submitted trash, which will automatically inform staff members once any of its parameters are exceeded.
"At first, villagers refused to establish the garbage collection pointdue to its bad smell, but later they asked for more at nearby areas," said Zhang Jibin, the deputy director of Bijiang environmental protection bureau.

Bijiang district was the first one to be equipped with smart sanitation services in Guizhou in 2018, with 1,056 trash collection stations that can contain 900 tons of trash every day.
In addition, Bijiang district is equipped with more than 300 electric garbage collectors, 45 garbage trucks, over 1,140 cleaners in 808 villages, as well as over 93,000 bins for sorted garbage.
Zhang added that a garbage collection mechanism had been set up in Bijiang. By introducing the waste incineration power plant, Bijiang has transformed 230,000 tons of household wastes into generated power since 2018. In October 2018, Bijiang was selected as one of the 100 greenest counties in China.
