Libo Zhangjiang Scenic Spot, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in Southwest China's Guizhou province, was reported on France 2, a French public national television channel, on Jan 3.

The news program, 13 Heures (13 o'clock), introduced Libo as having among the best environmental conservation measures in China, a paradise for adventurers and an ideal tourism destination.

Libo Zhangjiang Scenic Spot is located in Libo county, Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture, and is featured with Xiaoqikong Bridge (Small Seven-Hole Bridge). The scenic spot receives at least 100,000 tourists annually, mainly from China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia.

The program also interviewed peoples of Bouyei and Sui ethnic groups living in a 300-year-old village near the scenic spot. The residents have their own language, culture and handicraft techniques.

One of the Bouyei villagers explained the process of making handmade Batik products. Due to the large amount of time needed to craft them, each product is sold for 10 euros ($11.4).

The program focuses on environmental conservation and the harmonious coexistence between man and nature in Libo.

This is not the first time that Guizhou has appeared in a French television program. It was also featured in France 2's Rendez-vous en terre inconnue (meeting in an unknown land), a documentary program in which a French celebrity was invited to live in a Miao village in Guizhou. The program went on to become a hit.
