Headed by Zheng Junkang, mayor of Liuzhou, the Liuzhou economic and trade delegation arrived at Ragoon in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on 20 May for a 10-day visit in three ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries.

The Liuzhou economic and trade delegation will stay in Myanmar for three days and then will go to The Kingdom of Cambodia and The Lao People's Democratic Republic.

The delegation will discuss economic and trade cooperation and exchange, organize Liuzhou recommendation events, research the local market and promote the second China-ASEAN (Lizhou) Automobiles, Construction Equipments, Components and Parts Exposition, which will be held this September.

“With the development of Liugong Group and Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co, Ltd in Myanmar, Liuzhou’s industry is getting more and more popularity in the ASEAN countries,” said Jin Honggen, the economic and commercial counselor of the Chinese embassy in Rangoon.

“We hope the enterprises in Liuzhou will continue to expand their markets in ASEAN countries, build up Liuzhou’s brands, and revitalize the national industry,” he added.

Reportedly, Myanmar and Liuzhou enjoy strong economic and trade relations. From this January to March, the total exports of Liuzhou to Myanmar reached $7.6 million, up 143.8 percent year-on-year, accounting for 9.2 percent of the total exports to ASEAN countries.
