Liuzhou city is located in North-Central Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region at a northern latitude of 23 ° 54' to 26 ° 03 ' or east longitude of 108 ° 32' to 110 ° 28'. It is adjacent to Longsheng, Yongfu and Lipu in Guilin city to the east, and Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county in Hechi city, Luocheng Mulao autonomous country and Yizhou city to the west. Its southern boundary is the newly established Jinxiu Yao autonomous county in Laibin city, Xiangzhou county, Xingbin district and Xincheng county. It is joined to the north and northwest with Tongdao Dong autonomous county in Hunan province, Liping county and Congjiang county in Guizhou province.

Liuzhou has a monsoon climate zone where the central subtropical zone transits from the central subtropical zone to the south subzone. Here, summers are long and hot while winter is short and not very cold. The city receives an abundance of rain. The vertical temperature difference is greater than the latitude temperature with an average temperature of 20.6 ℃ in the central and southern areas and 16.5 ℃ in the northern mountain area.

Liuzhou is an excellent tourist city in China. Eighty percent of four A-level scenic spots in Guangxi are concentrated in an area of Liuzhou as the center with a 250-kilometer radius. The northern part of Liuzhou and its neighbor, Guilin city, constitute the world-renowned Great Guilin Scenic Area. Known as the "Home of China’s Stones", the city is famous for the saying, "Liuzhou’s fancy rocks captivate the world".

In addition, Liuzhou’s ethnic customs boast a unique charm with its "Four Essences" – songs from the Zhuang ethnic group, dances of the Yao ethnic group, festivals of the Miao ethnic group and the bungalow of the Dong ethnic group. It is a national A-grade tourist city and a historical and cultural city as well.
