A total of 25 officers and fire fighters of the Kunming Air Rescue Detachment of the China Forest Fire and Rescue Institute landed at Hechi Airport with relevant equipment on Nov 29, as the airport will serve as their base station to carry out various rescue and disaster relief tasks, such as forest fire fighting and earthquake relief, in provinces and regions like Guangxi, Guizhou, and Yunnan.

This is the first national-level air rescue team stationed in Hechi. It is part of the inter-provincial mobile garrison of forest firefighting teams made by the Ministry of Emergency Management to strengthen forest and grassland fire-fighting capabilities in key provinces and regions.

Leaders of Hechi Airport gave an overview of the airport's support facilities and equipment, staffing and logistics services, as well as emergency support capabilities to the rescue team at the welcoming ceremony.

With the presence of the team, a new model of Guangxi's firefighting, rescue, and disaster relief tasks has been developed, which will greatly improve the region's quick response abilities and rescue capabilities to various natural disasters and accidents, such as forest fires, geological disasters, flood prevention, and disaster prevention. It will also strongly support and promote high-quality local economic and social development.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
