The construction of a national wetland park in the Pohao Lake area in Hechi's Donglan county is well underway. Current construction efforts have already raised 18 million yuan ($2.8 million) in terms of investments.

With a planned total investment of 289 million yuan, the project, which kicked off in August 2016, is expected to be finished in three years. The park, covering an area of 549.4 hectares, will be the second national wetland park in Hechi when completed and also the 13th of its kind within the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The project aims to offer wildlife resources and wetland ecosystems more effective protection while also boosting local ecological tourism and economic development.
