A secondary road connecting Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county and Dongjiang town in Jinchengjiang district was opened to traffic on Nov 15, after three years' construction.

A ceremony was held in Huanjiang to celebrate the opening of the road which has cut the distance to Hechi down by 20 kilometers.

Starting from the Minzu Road in Huanjiang, the new road is a landscape avenue leading to the county's Karst world natural heritage site and is expected to help boost local tourism industry as well as the greater economy as a whole.

Stretching 15.7 km in length, the road project started in October 2014 and cost 120 million yuan ($18.09 million). Speed limits on the road are set between 40 and 60 km per hour.
