Tourism income grows in Nandan

Tourism income in Nandan has increased 17 percent in the first 10 months of the year, with the county welcoming 1.36 million visitors and taking in 1.22 billion yuan ($176 million) in revenue, according to the tourism bureau.

The increase in numbers comes as a result of improvement projects currently underway in Nandan, such as the 700-million-yuan Danquan Cultural Square, Daxinan Tourist Arrangement Center, the Grand Valley National Water Conservancy Scenic Spot, and Laxi National Wetland Park.

According to the bureau, nearly 4,000 visitors arrived from abroad, bringing in an extra 1.89 million yuan in revenue, a 11 percent growth year-on-year.

Nandan, a Hechi county in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, is rich in natural resources and boasts a wide variety of tourist attractions, including its ancient Yao village, an ecology museum, Yuanyang Bridge and Nandan Hot Springs.

Rural tourism has played an key role in boosting the local economy, which has created related jobs for 3,300 residents.
