Hechi villages 'best-preserved'

Hechi is bracing itself for an influx of nature-loving tourists after 54 of its villages appeared on the 2016 list of best-preserved villages in autonomous regions.

Hechi, in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, is already a popular tourist destination thanks to its abundant and picturesque natural scenery.

The list, released by the Guangxi Department of Environmental Protection, aims to promote rural areas and tourism. A total of 538 villages made the list, on which Hechi had the most entries.

Three of the listed villages are from Donglan county, four from Bama Yao autonomous county, four from Luocheng Mulam autonomous county, four from Du'an Yao autonomous county, 13 from Dahua Yao autonomous county, and 26 from Fengshan county.

Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau.
