China-ASEAN Youth Foreign Language Public Speaking Contest kicks off in Fangchenggang

The Fangchenggang Preliminary stage of Guangxi Hand-in-Hand China-ASEAN Youth Foreign Language Public Speaking Contest was held at the Fangchenggang Institute, Guangxi University of Finance and Economics in Fangchenggang on Oct 11.

The contest was held in English and ASEAN languages categories. A total of 22 contestants applied to participate. Those who are successful will be qualified to take part in the quarter-finals to be held in Qinzhou from Oct 18 to 20.

The Fangchenggang preliminary stage was sponsored by Fangchenggang foreign and overseas Chinese affairs office and organized by the Fangchenggang Institute at Guangxi University of Finance and Economics.

The public speaking contest aims to encourage communication and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries within the context of The Belt and Road Initiative and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. The contestants should have Chinese nationality, working, studying or living in Fangchenggang.

The Guangxi Hand-in-Hand China-ASEAN Youth Foreign Language Public Speaking Contest is an important public diplomacy activity in the autonomous region and nationwide. It is of significance in deepening traditional friendship between China and ASEAN countries and facilitating further development and promotion of Guangxi.
