by Li Yang

update: 2012-03-21

Thirteen liquefied natural gas (LNG) buses were put into service in Zhaoqing on March 16. It is the first batch of new energy vehicles ready for use in Guangdong province to reduce carbon emissions.

The LNG buses serve two routes: Zhaoqing to Yuexiu and Zhaoqing to Huaiji.

The Zhaoqing YueYun Motor Transport Co, a pilot unit of LNG buses, is expected to replace more than 500 of its diesel buses with LNG ones. The company is constructing support facilities such as LNG fuel pump stations.

The LNG coach features quiet operations, comfort and safety. It can save 20 percent of fuel efficiency with an 85 percent reduction of harmful emissions compared to diesel buses.
