Zhanjiang Airport launched a new air route to Ganzhou of Jiangxi province and Zhengzhou of Henan on June 1, while adding more flights to Meixian and Jieyang in Guangdong.

Operated by Jiangxi Airlines, the RY8985/86 flight is available every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. It takes off from Zhengzhou at 1:30 pm and arrives in Ganzhou at 3:25 pm. Departs once again at 4:10 pm, the flight reaches Zhanjiang at 5:50 pm.

For the return trip, the plane leaves Zhanjiang at 6:35 pm, and lays over in Ganzhou at 8:15 pm. It takes off again at 4:10 pm and hits the tarmac in Zhengzhou at 11:05 pm.

The number of China Express hops commuting between Zhanjiang and Meixian was increased from two flights to four flights per week. Passengers can make their trips on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Spring Airlines also added more flights on the Zhanjiang-Jieyang air route. There is now one flight available every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, while two flights available on Tuesday and Thursday each.

So far, the airport takes in 11 airlines that operate 31 air routes to 32 cities worldwide. It handled 999,775 passengers and 8060.5 tons of cargo in the first five months of 2018, up 19.1 and 19 percent respectively.
