Construction on a 760-meter trestle, which forms a major part of Tiaoshun Cross-sea Bridge in Zhanjiang, has recently been completed. With the addition of the new part, the overall bridge is expected to come into operation in June 2019.

With a total length of 16.45 kilometers, the Tiaoshun Cross-sea Bridge and its two extension lines came under construction on Dec 20, 2016. This is one of the earliest projects in the city to adopt the Private-Public-Partnership (PPP) mode.

The bridge's construction are currently managed by the Zhanjiang Communication Investment Group. Featuring a dual six-lane structure, the bridge is designed with a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour. The total costs will come to about 2.47 billion yuan ($390.3 million).

The first phase of the bridge will start from Wenche village and run through Shantang village to meet Haidong Express Line, while the second segment will converge with national road 325 (G325) in Jiugong village after passing through Mirendong, Mapi and Shanyao villages.

The bridge, serving as a fast lane that connects the Haidong New District with Chikan, Poshou districts and Suixi county, will greatly ease the current traffic pressures of the Haiwan Bridge, and propel regional economic development.
