Donghai Island draws advanced petrochemical projects

Updated: 2017-11-15

Ever since the Sino-Kuwait refinery and petrochemical complex gained a foothold in Donghai Island, it has been a gigantic magnet for that industry. On Nov 10, it drew a dozen more projects of three heavyweight petrochemical companies to the Zhanjiang Economic & Technological Development Zone.

These projects, covering package manufacturing, waste gas treatment and C5 hydrogenated petroleum resin processing, will be operated by Guangdong Sunion Chemical & Plastic Co, Guangdong Xinhuayue Petrochemical Incorporated Company and Maoming Petrochemical Shihua Co Ltd.

Once in production, they will team up with the Sino-Kuwait refinery and petrochemical project to form an industrial chain for resource recycling, which will help develop the local recycling economy.

Construction of the Sino-Kuwait refinery and petrochemical project began in December 2016, and is expected to be completed by 2019. A 37-sq-km petrochemical industrial park was established in the zone, aiming to attract transnational and domestic state-owned petrochemical enterprises as it matures into a world-class petrochemical base.
