A project worth 6 billion yuan ($912 million) was signed between the Lianjiang government and Zhongyun Group to build a Land Port Logistics Industrial New Town, at the 2017 Guangdong Entrepreneurs Conference held in Guangzhou on Sept 19.

Located at the intersection of Lianjiang Avenue and the entrance of Shantou-Zhanjiang Highway, the Industrial New Town will cover an area of 405 mu (27 hectares) and has been listed as one of the 20 key projects of the city in 2017.

Upon completion, it will become a first-of-its-kind Industrial New Town in the west of Guangdong which blends headquarters bases and residential areas with industrial culture and tourism.

Modern logistics, boutique agricultural products, and an industrial chain for household appliances will be integrated into the town. There will also be places for exhibitions and trade, e-commerce, financial services, scientific and technological innovation.

According to an executive from Lianjiang Investment Promotion Bureau, the project is set to propel forward the development of the logistics industry in the western Guangdong. It is of great importance to expand employment, create revenue and boost the tertiary industry in Lianjiang, a county-level city in Zhanjiang, the executive said.
