On Lantern Festival, local villages in Leizhou will hold such activities as "crossing sea of fire", also called "cross fire ground", which is for worshipping the god and praying for blessing. The most brave and strong young men in a village will be selected to cross the burning firewood, which is thrilling. The custom shows the ancestors' reverence toward fire.
