Zhanjiang Airport continues to set records in annual passenger throughput. As of Dec 26, the throughput has reached 1.5 million, a growth rate of 28 percent year on year.

A series of plans designed to optimize the airline layout, as well as increase the number of flights, have been carried out over this year, leading to a larger role in the tourism market of western Guangdong province.

Zhanjiang Airport now operates 400 flights across 22 airlines to 26 cities each week with about 60 flights occurring daily.

New airline additions have connected Zhanjiang with Hangzhou in Jiangsu, Zhengzhou in Henan and Xiamen in Guangdong.

The airport also introduced four airlines this year including Guangxi Beibu Gulf Airlines and Lucky Air, joining an existing 13 companies.
