The Innovation Development of Leading Agricultural Enterprises Seminar opened at the Zhanjiang Haibin Hotel on June 2, as the first Zhanjiang-ASEAN Agriculture Trade Fair got underway on the same day.

Discussions at the seminar focused on looking at ways to boost the innovation of leading agricultural enterprises in Zhanjiang and to accelerate the development of agricultural modernization in the city.

As an important pivot city along the Belt and Road Initiative and a pioneering city under the cooperation between Guangdong and ASEAN, Zhanjiang is embracing a great opportunity to bolster its agricultural development, Mayor Wang Zhongbing said at the seminar.

Wang also urged to attach great importance to six fields to further boost the city's agriculture sector.

The six fields are related to the innovation improvement, organization optimization, financial support, cooperation expansion, safety insurance and credit building, all in a bid to develop Zhanjiang into a pivot city with special tropical agriculture.

Experts from the provincial agricultural department and research institutes also gave keynote speeches on the situation and development momentum of Zhanjiang's agriculture and helped enterprises better understand the latest policies on agricultural development in Zhanjiang.
