The city of Zhanjiang was listed among the top four favorite places for tourists to visit in Guangdong during the 2016 Spring Festival holiday (Feb 7-13), hot on the heels of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan, according to the coastal city's tourism administration on Feb 26.

Meanwhile, the city is also the first place in the western Guangdong area to be listed among the top 10 most popular tourist destinations in Guangdong during the week-long holiday, according to another survey released by the Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province in the middle of this month.

The report on Feb 26 also showed that the majority of visitors come from neighboring areas of Guangdong, with Guangxi, Hunan, Jiangxi, Hubei, Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Fujian, Sichuan and Guizhou the top 10 passenger source regions.

The pristine ecological environment and the comfortable weather in Zhanjiang have been the most attractive features for most tourists, as well as the local seafood, the report said.

The city government has issued a series of incentives to boost the tourism market in Zhanjiang. Those who arrange for tourists from Northeast China to spend one night in Zhanjiang are eligible for 100 yuan ($15.27) per person as a reward. Those who arrange for tourists by air to spend two nights or above are given 500 yuan per person and by train 300 yuan per person.

Yugang Park in Zhanjiang has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city and is estimated to have received more than 500,000 visitors a day during the 2016 Spring Festival holiday.
