Zhanjiang Olympic Sports Center is on the shortlist for 2015 Global Best Stadiums, which was recently released by stadiumDB, a professional sports venues data website, Zhanjiang Evening News reported on Jan 20.

There are a total of 22 stadiums from 15 countries on the list, with three of them in China.

Zhanjiang Olympic Sports Center covers an area of 89,000 square meters following an investment of 3.8 billion yuan ($577 million). The center's design was inspired by maritime culture and uses a seashell theme.

The venue consists of four buildings, with the central stadium holding 40,000 spectators.
