The closing ceremony of the 14th Guangdong Provincial Games was held in the Zhanjiang Olympic Sports Center on Aug 16.

More than 500 artists presented impressive performances for spectators and government officials who attended the closing ceremony. Liu Xiaohua, Party secretary of Zhanjiang, and Wang Zhongbing, mayor of Zhanjiang, took part in the closing ceremony.

During the 22-day-long Provincial Games, about 3,000 competitions were held in 32 sports venues in Zhanjiang. Guangzhou delegation won the first place with 9491.1 points, to be followed by Shenzhen (7373.4 points), Dongguan (5524.4 points), Zhongshan (4410.5 points) and Zhanjiang (4325.4 points).

On behalf of the municipal government and 8 million residents in Zhanjiang, Mayor Wang Zhongbing expressed his congratulations and admiration of delegations, athletes, coaches, referees and other staff workers. He said that holding a successful Provincial Games was Zhanjiang's dream and responsibility, as well as opportunity.
