Li Chaoliang, a post-90s illustrator, has designed a set of 10 postcards for the 14th Guangdong Provincial Games, using mascot "Zhan Zhan" as the main figure.

The postcards issued on July 25 are well-received by the public.

Li is thin and relatively small, wearing black-framed glasses. "The work for the Provincial Games is the sixth set of postcards I designed," he said.

Among all the works created by him, the postcards for the Provincial Games are his favorites.

"These postcards, as gifts or souvenirs, may help residents and visitors cherish the moment and remember this coastal city with its blue skies and white clouds," he said.

Li is interested in studying Zhanjiang's intangible cultural heritages and has deep affinity with Zhanjiang's old streets. He has a dream: to inherit and promote the local culture.

When he was in college, he created a photo collection work called "My feelings towards old streets", which recorded the original features of Zhanjiang's old streets before they were renovated.

Li's first masterpiece "inherit" showcases the local intangible cultural heritage, including the Lei Opera, human dragon dance and the lion dance.

Postcard is just one of Li's creation formats. Recently, he tries to paint famous buildings and local specialties on Zhanjiang's tourism map.

"Culture is the essence of a city. We should call on more people to concern about it," Li said.
