Emergency meeting of Nepalese earthquake relief held

On April 25, 2015, an 8.1 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal, causing at least 1800 Nepali people’s death. Upper Trishuli Hydropower Station contracted by CGGC also suffered from the disaster with several Nepali employees died. Chen Xiaohua, Vice President of CGGC, Chairman and President of CGGC International held the first meeting of CGGC International emergency leading team and fully deployed the earthquake rescue works on April 26.

Until 9am, April 26, CGGC received no casualty news from Nepal office of CGGC and Chameliya Project. However, 4 Chinese employees suffered minor injuries and several Nepali employees died at Upper Trishuli Hydropower Station. The accurate date is in confirming because of the disrupted road traffic and interrupted communication.

Currently, all staff of Trishuli Hydropower Station have been transferred to safety area, and the Project Department has been in touch with Chinese embassy to Nepal. The Chinese embassy planned to dispatch helicopter for diverting severely wounded people to better-condition hospitals. Other rescue and relief work and disaster investigation are all processing orderly.

Chen Xiaohua conveyed CEEC and CGGC leader’s instruction on rescue and relief work and expressed their concern on the situation of front-line employees in stricken area. Currently, Quality and Environmental Protection Department, International Business Department of CGGC and CGGC International are mobilizing and organizing correlative parties into rescue and relief work well together.
