Gansu province in Northwest China held a concert on Sept 1 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and World War II.

The Gansu Longyun Chorus, Baiyin Philharmonic Chorus, chorus of Northwest University for Nationalities and Lanzhou city Symphony Orchestra jointly performed in the Gansu Grand Theatre.

The concert highlighted the themes of pursuing peace and dreams, with performances relating to the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and World War II in the first half and music about pursuing peace and dreams in second half. It closed with the chorus—Ode to the Motherland.

The concert was held in order to remind people of the hard-won victory in the Anti-Fascist War and to cherish peace through music, according to organizers, who included provincial departments of publicity and culture.
