The first-phase construction of the Tajiaozhou wetland park on the Longxiang Island of Fuzhou, Fujian province, is expected to be completed in May, local news reported on March 27.

The wetland park, which covers an area of 3.11 square kilometers, is home to a beautiful environment with a wide range of plants and flocks of birds and fish. It is also referred to as "Swan Lake" since many swans hibernate there during winter.

Located at the suburbs of the city and boasting abundant sightseeing resources, the wetland park is second to none in China, said Liu Yundong, one of the local officials, adding that the project is currently progressing smoothly.

Liu went on saying that the first-phase project mainly covers the construction of a wetland observation deck, a bird observation tower, a wooden deck, several docks, a swan lake and a footpath connecting all the venues worth visiting.
