Fuqing Nuclear Power's Unit No.1 set to start up next July

The Fuqing Nuclear Power Co announced that its Unit No.1 has undergone testing and is expected to start generating electricity from July, 2014, www.fznews.com has reported.

Construction work on the six-unit facility began on Nov 21, 2008, with work on No.1 expected to take a little over five years.

Work on the No.2 unit started on Sept 18, 2009 and it is expected to start generating electricity on January 15, 2015.

Construction work on the other four units is still underway and they are expected to begin generating power, one each year, from next year on.

By the end of last month, more than 30 billion yuan had been spent on the facility.
