There were more than 250 naval experts and from across the Taiwan Straits, as well as the United States, Canada, and Australia discussing the role of the Fuzhou ship administration is playing in Taiwan’s modernization, at the 3rd Cross-Straits Ship Administration Culture Seminar, in Fuzhou, Fujian province, on Nov 1.
Lin Wenyi, chairwoman of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League’s central committee, who sent a congratulatory message to the gathering, said that Fuzhou, which is the home of China’s modern shipbuilding, has had an influence on China’s educational, industrial, aviation, naval, and intellectual history. And, its culture of ship administration has played a key role in the modernization of Taiwan, while Fuzhou’s naval officers and their offspring have had an important impact on Taiwan’s modern history and society.
The organizers of the two-day seminar were the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League, Fuzhou CPPCC, Fujian Research Institute of Culture and History, and the Mawei district government.
