Updated: 2012-10-16

The 87th China National Food, Wine and Spirits Fair will take place at the Fuzhou Strait International Conference and Exhibition Center from Oct 18 to 21. This is the first time the event will be held in Fujian province and the southeastern coastal areas.

The fair will set a record with an exhibition space of 12,000 square meters. All eight pavilions in the center will be used for a grape wine and foreign spirits pavilion, food and beverage pavilion, condiment pavilion and packing pavilion among others. A Taiwan food pavilion and a tea zone will also be established at the fair for the first time.

It is estimated that about 3,000 food enterprises will participate in the fair, attracting more than 100,000 visitors. Top domestic brands, including Wuliangye and Fenjiu, will be on display. Taiwan food enterprises are expected to promote local featured food represented by Gaoliang spirit.

A number of professional meetings and more than 10 business promotion conferences will be held to help food enterprises learn about the market and expand their businesses. The meetings will also include a seminar on cross-Straits food industry cooperation and development and a China wine industry business conference.

The China National Food, Wine and Spirits Fair is the oldest, largest and most influential fair in China’s food industry. Established in 1955, it is considered a weather vane of the wine and food industry. In recent years, the fair maintained exhibition space above 100,000 square meters and attracted 200,000 to 300,000 visitors each time. Its highest turnover volume exceeded 20 billion yuan ($3.2 billion).
