Fuzhou, FUJIAN - The world’s biggest red envelop (2.2 meters long, 1 meter wide) shows up in Fuzhou on Saturday. The red envelop is launched by Western Union. Returned overseas Chinese and their relatives from over 20 countries and regions witnessed it right on the spot.
Giving red envelops to friends and relatives during the Spring Festival has long been a tradition in Chinese culture. Though, the life of the people is greatly improved, the Chinese still regard giving cash is the best gift.
"This New Year, Chinese from home and abroad will send out morn than 1 billion red envelops, the old tradition remains lively in today’s China. We should grasp this chance to express our love and gratitude to our beloved ones and the move will definitely bring us good luck," said Drina Yue, Asia Pacific managing director and senior vice president of Western Union.
