The Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) has made great progresses in marine resource development and protection, said Zhang Baoshun, vice chairman of the Environment Protection and Resources Conservation Committee of NPC during his visit to the zone on April 12.

The official visited a special customs supervision and management area, sand beaches at the Tannan Bay, and the Island Research Center of the State Oceanic Administration.

Zhang Baoshun said that Pingtan has created a better marine ecological environment. He expected that the zone will continue to do so, which will also benefit its economy.

The vice chairman added that they want to learn from the zone's successful experience and hoped that local officials will give suggestions to help improve the system of marine environmental protection.

Zhang Zhaomin, secretary of PCPZ's Party working committee said that Pingtan will follow the concept of sustainable development and committed to the protection of marine environment.
