A coastal county in Eastern Fujian, Pingtan is subject to strong wind in winter, which often blows the sand from Longfengtou Beach to Haiyu Square nearby and hampers the greening efforts.

To make sure the sand stays on the ground, the beach’s authority brought in 10 drip irrigation belts.

Connected to the irrigation system, the porous belt is able to cover a length of about 100 meters.

Compared with a normal sprinkler, the belt has a higher utilization rate, as it has stronger structures and doesn’t rust. The cost of the belt is much lower, too, explained the authority.

The irrigation belt will stay on the beach till April.
