Hu Zhiyong, vice captain of the team, accepted the award in Beijing on Oct 28.

The team, which is affiliated with the local public security bureau, has won a string of plaudits for its service, especially in facilitating cross-Straits travel over the past few years.

Pingtan’s border authority has been creative in exploring new service modes. For example, it unprecedentedly allows Taiwanese people to proceed with applications for mainland travel permits and visa procedures on ships commuting between Pingtan and Taiwan, which takes no more than 5 minutes.

Some 11,000 Taiwanese have benefited from the service over the last four years.
