Fujian to build eight new express ways in 2015

2015-01-12

Fujian province in East China plans to spend 33 billion yuan ($5.3 billion) on construction of eight new highways in 2015, Xiamen Daily reported on Jan 11, quoting the provincial transport department.

The eight highways, which have a total length of about 400 kilometers, will mainly be in coastal areas and link cities and counties more closely, said the Department.

The Xiamen-Shaxian Highway, threading Jimei district in Xiamen city, the counties of Anxi and Dehua in Quanzhou city and the counties of Youxi and Shaxian in Sanming city, will cut the driving time from Xiamen to Sanming to three hours after completion.

With that, Xiamen will be linked by highway to all the counties in the province.

The Ningbo-Dongguan Highway, which connects Ninbgo in Zhejiang province and Dongguan in Guangdong province, will run through Fujian’s cities of Ningde, Fuzhou, Putian, Quanzhou and Zhangzhou.

In addition, construction of 28 (existing) highway projects extending 1,280 km is underway in Fujian, and 17 of them are scheduled to be finished with a length of 710 km this year.

Fujian invested 36 billion yuan, nearly 100 million yuan per day on average, on highway construction, and completed five projects with a length of 118 km in 2014.
