Quanzhou in Southeast China's Fujian province launched a special bullet train on Thursday to ensure the migrant workers in the city get home smoothly during the Spring Festival travel rush, which commenced on Feb 1.

According to Chen Baofang, vice chairman of the Quanzhou Federation of Trade Unions, eight additional carriages were added to the original D2376 train starting from Xiamen in Fujian and ending at Chongqing Municipality, after they contacted and reached a consensus with related railway transportation authorities.

More than 1,600 migrant workers from 48 enterprises in Quanzhou boarded on the special train, Chen revealed, adding that the majority of them are from places including Hubei province and Chongqing Municipality.

Meanwhile, the federation also offered them gift packages as well as voluntary services like carrying luggage, while they were also guided to the platforms.
