By the end of 2020, Xiamen is expected to be a “Garden City” with more than 300 parks.
The Xiamen City Planning Bureau revealed more than 200 parks will be added by the end of 2020, and a new ecological green space system will be created.
The new green space plan will enhance linking separate green spots and forming a green space network of mountains and sea.
Currently, Xiamen has about 100 parks and community parks will witness a sharp increase over the next five years. By the end of 2020, the number of community parks in the city is expected to reach 140, with a community park within a radius of every 500 meters.
The city now has 26 comprehensive parks, including the Yuanboyuan Expo Garden and the Xiamen Botanical Garden, and 30 more will be built in the next five years.
The government will also build more belt-shaped parks, similar to the Xiamen Railway Culture Park, Haicang Bay Park and Huandao Road Coastal Park.
