On November 9, the NHFPC dispatched the first batch of the public health training team to Sierra Leone, helping the Ebola-affected West African countries to train public health staff. It will dispatch the second batch of the inspection team from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention in the middle of November. At the same time, the NHFPC will dispatch public health experts as senior counselors of the UN’s Ebola emergency mission. As of late November, China has dispatched nearly 400 people to fight Ebola in West African countries. In order to conduct and coordinate the Chinese medical team in the Ebola-affected areas, China will send senior representatives to West Africa to help ensure their work can be smoothly carried out.

Until now, China has dispatched 252 people to three Ebola-affected countries; 134 of them are still holding their positions. It is expected that in the next months, China will send thousands of medical staff and public health experts to West Africa to fight Ebola. The medical staff are selected from military medical institutions, assisting Ebola-affected countries in public health staff training, laboratory testing, suspected cases observation and treatment.
