Chengdu temple fair attracts three quarter a million visitors

A temple fair was held in Wuhou Memorial Temple in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province, during the Spring Festival holiday, attracting nearly 700,000 visitors, xinhuanet.com reported.

Lantern shows, dancing and singing performances, Sichuan local cuisine, book fairs and art galleries are the main activities welcomed by the visitors at the temple fair.

“Here at the temple fair I deeply indulge in the Spring Festival atmosphere,” said Mr Fan, a visitor from Guangdong province.

The temple fair will end on March 5, the Lantern Festival Day, marking the last day of the Lunar New Year celebrations.

Sichuan historical relic connoisseurs will be present at the temple fair on Feb 26 and 27 to identify and evaluate amateurs’ cultural relic collections. They will also share their knowledge and experience about collection.
