Beijing launches medical innovation projects

The 2019 National Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week-Capital Medical Innovation Project Conference opened at the Zhongguancun Exhibition Center on June 14.

The conference aimed at displaying the innovative achievements of Beijing in medical health, enriching the exhibits of the National Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week, and providing a professional display, coordination and communication platform so as to benefit the transfer and transformation of medical scientific and technological achievements.

Weng Qiwen, deputy director of the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, and Sun Liguang, vice president of Capital Medical University(CMU), signed the Agreement on Promoting Strategic Cooperation on Innovative Development at the event.

According to the agreement, the two sides will cooperate on the transfer and transformation of medical scientific and technological achievements, the integrative development of medicine and engineering, and the collaborative innovation of industries, universities and research.

Yan Ying, director of the Entrepreneur Services Department of the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, said that the all-round cooperation of Zhongguancun and CMU on innovation can greatly promote the development of the medical health industry.

Sun Liguang,remarked that CMU, as a medical institution of higher learning in Beijing, will shoulder the mission of medical scientific and technological innovation and transformation.

"The conference will provide ideas and point out the direction for the transfer and transformation of these excellent projects," Sun added.

A total of eight medical innovations were unveiled at the conference, including a minimally invasive vascular interventional surgery robot; a precise and personalized optometry and frame glasses matching system; and a high-energy nm-red light therapeutic instrument for delaying clinical dementia.

Sponsored by Capital Medical University and undertaken by the Centre for Industrial Management and Administration of Capital Medical University and the Beijing Medical Valley, the conference was supported by Peking University Health Science Center, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, the Institute of Materia Medica at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College.
