Zhongguancun Science Park has now reached a target of housing 37 key projects, ranking at the top of the rankings of China's first demonstration bases for mass entrepreneurship and innovation.

The General Office of the State Council approved 28 demonstration bases for mass entrepreneurship and innovation nationwide in May, 2016. The document aimed to develop these into high-level, distinctive demonstration bases for mass entrepreneurship and innovation and promote their successful experiences nationwide.

Haidian government said in its work report for 2017 on Feb 9 that Zhongguancun has attracted 25 percent of the "unicorn" companies in the country. The "unicorn" label is given to private companies worth at least $1 billion.

There are now 21,000 newly established science and technology enterprises, accounting for 27.3 percent of the city's total, settled in Zhongguancun. More than 80 listed enterprises have been added, taking the total number to 1,020.

Zhongguancun Innoway has incubated an accumulated 1,900 teams and the Zhongguancun I-M-Way is now home to 47 companies with high-end core technologies.

District-level general public budget revenue has reached 41.69 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 8 percent, and per capita disposable income has increased by 7.4 percent.
