15th CIEP held in Shenzhen

The 15th Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP) was successfully held in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, on April 15 and 16. The conference was co-organized by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) and the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government.

More than 4,600 professional organizations, training institutions, higher education institutions,technology companies and human resources consultancies from over 70 countries and regions were invited to this year’s event.

The forum highlighted internationalization, high quality, professionalization, marketization and informatization.

1. Professional forums and conferences

SAFEA organized a symposium for the 1000 Talent Plan, with 20 top foreign experts attending, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security held a forum on vocational ability construction. Seminars on project management, big data and China’s high-tech industrial parks were also held.

2. Nationwide demonstration of achievements of talents introduction

Thirty-one provinces, cities and autonomous regions participated in CIEP this year, showing their achievements in acquiring overseas expertise, publishing the needs of recruited talents, and introducing the necessary environment and policies of overseas introduction work. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Pearl River Delta cities also displayed their achievements.

3. Matching foreign experts institutions and domestic training programs

More than 320 foreign institutions in the United States, France, Russia and Australia were matched with China’s relevant departments and companies in order to introduce overseas talents.

4. International technology transfer and innovation cooperation

The conferences collected the speeches of over 100 experts from 17 countries and regions, including Israel, Russia, the US and Italy, selected over 100 projects about international technology transfer and innovation cooperation, organized over 300 project dockings, and achieved many cooperation outcomes of great importance.

5. Asia-Pacific human resources development and service expo

More than 220 HR authorities and 600 HR experts and senior executives were invited to the expo. Nearly 20 industry leaders, experts and senior executives in the HR field shared their working experiences, and 80 human resource consultancies demonstrated the latest HR industry information.

6. International education fairs

These exhibitions focused on student enrollment, sessions of overseas returnees sharing their experience, and a career education forum. An analysis of overseas study trends in the last two years was published by Shinyway Education. Over 50 overseas academic institutions and over 10 domestic international high schools and societies took part in the education fairs.

7. Vocational education and talented individuals exhibition

Domestic vocational colleges and foreign vocational training institutions participated in the exhibition to advance implementation of the Made in China 2025 plan and the national high-level talent development strategy. The Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guangdong province and local governments also took part.

The 44th World Skills Competition and an international skills invitational were held by the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of China. The nationwide competition included three projects -- product display technology, freight forwarding, and 3D digital game art. Sixty-four candidates from 18 provinces and cities joined the competition. The international skill invitational contained competitions in art graphic design and jewel crafting with 15 entrants from China, France, Italy, South Korea, New Zealand, Portugal, and Russia participating.

8. International software talents projects

The attendees included 44 of China’s demonstration software universities and colleges, 20 international training bases for China’s software personnel, 204 IT firms, and investment agencies.

Meanwhile, some thematic activities, such as a symposium on development strategies for international training bases for talents to work in China’s software and integrated circuit industries, and a forum on university-enterprise cooperation, were held during the two days.

9. Diverse job fairs

Eight different job fairs at the forum invited 1,258 companies and offered 31,380 new job opportunities to talents from both home and abroad. Some job fairs targeted foreign talents, college graduates in China, overseas returnees, and software-application talents, while others focused on Internet Plus skills and positions at public institutions or world-famous enterprises.

10. The selection and award ceremony

The forum arranged an award ceremony for foreign experts in the 1000 Talent Plan, and also released the poll results of the most attractive cities for foreign talents in 2016.

The 16th Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP) is scheduled to take place next April.
