Liu Guang, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in Northeast China's Jilin province, proposed the construction of national cultural parks to promote the revolutionary spirit, according to local officials.

These parks are to be themed around the spirit of Northeast anti-Japanese united forces, the CPPCC member said.

Liu said building such cultural parks would promote the innovative development of outstanding traditional Chinese culture and could also be an important demonstration of the integrated development of culture and tourism.

Discussing the parks, the CPPCC member suggested making careful plans and coordinating historical studies before construction, adding that the parks should be jointly managed by the country and local governments.

Liu said that revolutionary culture and tourism will flourish in Northeast China, with such parks integrating functions like tourism, leisure, the popularizing of science and the protection of history.
